The Global Fashion Awards<\/strong><\/a> is an event organised by the WGSN<\/strong><\/a> that announced the names of the nominees last 21st of June.<\/p>\n

More than 200 people gathered together at St Martins Lane<\/strong><\/a> Hotel in London where the categories and the shortlist of potential winners was made public. Some of the nominated categories are defined with titles such as \u201cOutstanding New Store\u201d, \u201cMost Sustainable Brand or Retailer\u201d or \u201cOutstanding Consumer Experience\u201d<\/em>.<\/p>\n

The gala will be held on the 20th of October at Gotham Hall<\/strong><\/a>, New York, where the panel of judges including Dolly Jones<\/strong> (editor of Vogue.co.uk), Simon Kneen<\/strong> (Creative Director of\u00a0 Banana Republic) and Averyl Oates<\/strong> will be in charge of deciding who are the happy winners of the Global Fashion Awards 2011.<\/p>\n

Pikolinos has been nominated in the \u201cMost Sustainable Brand or Retailer\u201d <\/strong>category as a result of its Maasai Project.<\/strong><\/a> This is an alternative and sustainable trade project that helps to guarantee the quality of life of this community, which is in danger of extinction, by giving thousands of women work. It\u2019s based on a collection of ethnic shoes and bags and of the profits made from the sale of these items go towards development projects in the Maasai Mara in Kenya. In 2010 a school for 400 children was opened and soon an old people\u2019s home and hospital are going to be built thanks to this initiative.<\/p>\n
